William Herrod-Hempsall, Bee-Keeping new and old: described with pen and camera (London: The British Bee Journal, 1930)
Two publications featuring Apian in 2022
Recently Apian appeared in two different magazines.
First with a short piece co-written in collaboration with the visual anthropologist Ellen Lapper. The text is about new forms of intimacy with animals enabled by technology and especially cameras for the Spring and Summer 2022 issue of Fantastic Man. Special thanks to Eliot Haworth for the invitation!
The second one is a short visual essay about the history of the beehive for the first issue of the French magazine Revue Mille Cosmos. Taking place on 9 pages this visual essay is a shorter and rework version of the book Hives, 2400 B.C.E. – 1852 C.E. Special thanks to Claire Fau, Maxime Lancien et Gayané Zavatto and the rest of the team for the opportunity.
