Eyebeam Phase II Launch
Mark your calendar: on the 19th of February between (8pm-12am CET / 2-6 pm EST) Apian will launch The Intimacy Machine during Eyebeam’s festival From the Rupture: Ideas and Actions for the Future
– a four-day online/IRL festival of art and ideas. The festival will be held between the 17th to the 20th of February (each day at 8pm-12am CET / 2-6 pm EST). RSVP is necessary via this link: fromtherupture.eyebeam.org
Since October 2020, Apian has been developing a project in collaboration with Eyebeam as a Rapid Response Phase II fellow. Called The Intimacy Machine, this piece has been made in collaboration with Harry Bloch and Joris Landman from Studio Harris Blondman and the visual anthropologist Ellen Lapper. This machine aims to challenge the forthcoming of digital apparatuses into beekeeping practices. Taking the form of a manifesto and a DIY academic journal, it offers a refuge where we can encounter bees on a more egalitarian basis and imagine new forms of intimacies with them, yet without somatic proximity (Jake Metcalf). Find more about the project in the project section.

Join Eyebeam and Rapid Response fellows for an expansive digital convening of radical practitioners spanning the fields of public policy, journalism, healthcare, and more with over 25 talks and conversations. From the Rupture: Ideas and Actions for the Future coincides with eight notable project launches that were supported by Eyebeam’s Rapid Response for a Better Digital Future.
